Foundation at RSC, Baroda

Just like the usual, we had another unusual, in that our foundation at RSC could not be held in december. As the number of officer trainees had gone up to beyond 300, it was decided to split the AFP into two batches. We started our Foundation programme in june 2011.
When we reached baroda, I wondered if I could manage the trying PT, the pathetic food, the studies n exams alongside my civil service prep. But, things started to ease over a period of time.
Our day started with a jog and PT. Occasionally, we spent mornings at Badminton court also. Breakfast was the meal of the day... Literally... Classes from 9:00 till 16:30, followed by spending 3-4 hrs at the badminton court. Even now i wish i could relive those days. On the social front, we made friends for a lifetime with fellow probationers and officers.. My roomie VIPUL and I spent time discussing music, people, movies and regular guy stuff :-P
Made great friends with Shobhit, shivaranjani, janmejay, Jayant, Banugade, Fanindra et al... But the camaraderie of our batch resulted in ensuring that I & Piyush played the finals of Doubles Badminton, though we lost.. On literary side, tried my hand at poetry, book reviews and others, but could not make much out of them.. Also lost my Nokia cellphone which enabled me to go for a GALAXY S2..
The best part of my stay at Baroda could be the moment of glory when I conducted the grand QUIZ. People remember that even now.. Culturals ensued where I & Ritu sang "Abhi na jao chhodkar ke dil abhi bhara nahi". Truly, the stay at Baroda deserves a special place in my life..

End of Lucknow Part I

We are now told that we have our second installment of our training at ZRTI, Udaipur. So we shall leave lucknow by the month end.. But before going, we were being treated by the faculty members at Zero degree which is a discotheque at lucknow. Some people danced, some people made others dance. We just sat at a place seeing others make a fool out of themselves..
What happened at the disc wasn't sensational, but the thing which happened after that. When alcohol goes down, its not the person who talks, but alcohol. Something similar happened and i realized that if I were married, I would never bring my wife to such a party. I feel that even I should not attend any of these booze parties.

Culturals

Amid much hype, Cultural events started. I don't know why they were called culturals when what actually happened was literary.. Anyhow two quizzes, a couple of debates, extempore and JAM followed with nothing but chaos reigning supreme..

I guess a book can be written- " How not to organise an Event".

Sports Events

Two cricket matches, Badminton events, snooker, Table tennis and Chess were conducted among others and I got to see the reality of almost every person. Some ambitious, some over ambitious, and others excessively ambitious. Some knew nothing but wanted to seem like they knew everything. Thats how our character is; to show off, to brag and to actually do nothing.
I used to play cricket in my school days, stopped in college, and now i am completely out of shape, form and skills. I say that i don't play cricket well but I shall start playing it when i will regain some form; Thats a different issue altogether. I am not a good badminton player either even though i used to play regularly in my college days.. Its my aim now to better my game and to come upto the level of some good players here..
Although the sports events were well choreographed, still some confusions occured in the draws.. that apart i was content that i played alongside Ajay and not a person who assumed himself to be a know-it-all.

Back to Home

Home Sweet Home

It was the first time i celebrated my birthday away from my family. Truly speaking I have started to feel at home but even then i have a gut feeling that i'm unacceptable by a few. Waise logon ke liye main kahoonga 'My foot'. Its bad to talk bout these things, but worse to take their names. I do not believe in backbiting and it is a sin in Islam. All these things made me get a little Home sick.
The visit to Bangalore was very much important for me for three reasons. First, I was missing my Betu; Second I was missing my Family members and last but not the least I wanted some timeout.. Although I was away for about 5 days, I had to travel for over 75 hours in toto. Resultant- I got to spend only two days at home. While at Bangalore, Me n Sadi purchased a Laptop for her- HPG42-477TU.. Now something similar should be procured for Aapi also. Anyway, Kulsum and mom accompanied me to the station to see me off.. I didn't feel like leaving but Kya karen.. Reached Lucknow on 19th to get back to classes......
